Kamiel Vorwerk (1981)
is a Dutch designer and artist working in Wolfenschiessen, Switzerland.
He is drawn to the human desire to go upward — a longing as old as the first person who climbed a hill just to see further. What drives him is not to analyse this impulse, but to celebrate it.
Trained as a spatial designer, Vorwerk finds inspiration in the tension between nature and the built environment. Geometry and depth, perspective and scale, the precision of a technical drawing and the vastness of a mountain face — these are the forces his work inhabits and explores.
Vorwerk graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven (2006) after which he gained his master in Design at the Sandberg Institute Amsterdam (Rietveld Academy) in 2008. He co-founded Studio RuigWerk, an office for Experience Architecture, in 2011, working on exhibitions, visitor centres and spatial identities. In 2021 he and his family moved to Lucerne, Switzerland, drawn by a shared love of the mountains. Since then he has worked as a spatial designer for Steiner Sarnen Schweiz and currently for Erlebnisplan. On 19 September 2026 he will officially launch his art practice with a first public showing in Wolfenschiessen.
Does my work fit your exhibition or gallery?
Or do you have a project where my practice could play a role?
I'd love to hear from you.
Commissions
With over 20 years of experience as a scenographer and spatial designer, I bring a distinctive sensibility to commissioned and applied art projects. Whether you have a concrete brief or simply an idea worth exploring, don't hesitate to get in touch.
I am available for projects such as:
art in public space, murals, perspectival fences or balustrades, vertiginous façade ornaments, viewing platforms, staircases that lead somewhere — or nowhere in particular, expressive theatre sets, and other art that reaches for the sky.
